Being a member is about food and fun with the farm...

Member benefits

LIFE Certified Organic Farm is very excited about building a strong connection between the farm and the CSA shareholders.  We hope to foster a strong understanding of activities on the farm and the importance of organic farming methods through a CSA newsletter, weekly recipes, farm tours/days, special events and education, and of course conversation as the season progresses.

Being part of Life was even more enjoyable than I expected.  I love the way Bobbi immediately remembered our names, the way we split our half share, and my allergies.  I’ll definitely sign up next year. - Elizabeth

Share size

We offer two standard share sizes – half (one-two adults) and full (two veggie-loving adults or a medium family).  We offer several share lengths – Spring Salad share (4 weeks), Summer Season share (21 weeks), and an Extended Season share (all 25 weeks).  Our share prices range from $15 - $30 per week depending on the size and length (see table for a full chart of prices).    We are also able to customize the size of your order to allow for larger than large shares. Contact us for pricing depending on your situation. Click here for a MEMBERSHIP SIGN UP/AGREEMENT FORM.

I go to the grocery once a month now.  You are saving me a lot of time and energy. We eat so much better. - Jenn

LIFE's Certified Organic Produce Offerings

We have two farms, one in Morgan County and one in Monroe County.  LIFE grows a wide variety of produce using greenhouses, hoop houses and open farm fields.  CSA members can anticipate enjoying produce such as cherry tomatoes from the greenhouse along with lettuce, kale, green onions, salad mix, and radishes from the farm fields in the spring.  Summer brings a bounty of produce options such as field tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, potatoes, beets, onions, garlic, fresh herbs, and more.  Fall continues with tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers with the addition of winter squash, pumpkins, broccoli, cabbage, and kale.  The farm hopes to have strawberries in the spring and pears in the summer. To ensure some fruit, occasionally we source from neighboring farms focusing on organic, then no-spray/low spray, including melons, apples and berries.  This year we're planting an 'oddities garden', so you may find unique produce or varieties we want to test for future production.

Special Share Additions

Loved the Fare Share, it was like getting a present every week. - Heidi and Matt

The Local Fare Share is a great way to try a variety of locally grown/crafted specialties like fruits, honey, sauces, flour and cheeses. Our region has many diverse farms with diverse foods that we want to share with you. "It's like Christmas each time we open the box" is a regular comment from Local Fare Share participants.  Each week will include a different sustainably produced item. $7 per week.

Egg Shares from Seven Springs Farm - Luella Porter manages the free range layers using non-GMO feeds and balanced feed supplements such askelp and natural salts to optimize the nutrition of her eggs. She concentrates on omega fatty acids for high quality eggs. $3.50 per dozen per week.

Coffee Shares feature Brown County Roasters’ (Nick Schultz) locally roasted organic and fair trade coffees. Choose from dark, mild or decaf. 1lb. per week - $9, ½ lb. per week - $5

Discounts

This year we introduce two discounts for our members.  To help us increase our membership we have the Refer a Friend Discount.  For every member who says they were referred by you we will take 5% off your produce share.  Refer 20 friends and you get a free share!

The Early Bird Special, available until February 15th, allows people to sign on in 2010 at 2009 prices.  You can save $4(spring share) to $25 (extended season share).  Signing on early saves you money.  It allows us to plan better and to cover early costs such as seeds and labor to get the season started right.

Payment plan

We appreciate full payment in the spring from our CSA members to ensure enough labor and supplies to start the season right.  This can be the difference between success and scrambling to maintain.  However, access to healthy fresh food for everyone is part of LIFE's mission.  If a payment plan makes the difference, please inquire.
